Week Eight of my project

This week is the penultimate week of the project as next week will be putting up the work and making sure everything is complete. This week i have started to produce the outer frame from wood. in addition to this i have also started paintings on chip board as when this is painted on it holds the colours a lot more, and allows there to be added texture to the paintings. In addition i have used water based oil paints as it has a fast open time, therefore i can place layer upon layer over a short period of time, when compared to normal oil paints.
Next week i will be finishing everything and completing a overall evaluation.

Week Seven of my project

This image above is from my sketchbook, showing the progress within my work, this past week i have been playing around with the ideas of paintings and the possible layout and close ups i will choose, to do this i have decided to only choose 6 paintings out of a possible 10 as this will give me a good enough range to choose from. So far from what i have achieved this week i believe that producing the paintings in a sepia tones works a lot better than black and white as it gives more depth and life to the fabric as it is more 3-dimensional.
Next week i will be producing my final outcomes of photographs and paintings and my instillation piece this will hopefully work as i am planning to create an 4x8 ft column frame with paintings and photograph surrounding the outside and then situated in the middle will be a variety of wrapped objects and if possible a model on the final exhibition.

Week Six of my project

The image above is a page within my sketchbook showing the progress of my project, in the last week i have looked at where i could place the models by drawing onto photographs with permanent marker, as this will help me figure out the scale, locations and the possible number of models required for each location, and thus letting me prepare by asking around for models and thinking about appropriate times.
next week if all goes well i will have my finished photographs, and then i will start looking at the possible ideas for the paintings.

Week Five of my project

The image above is an example of the sketchbook work i have completed over the past week,
I have been drawing my models to look at the shapes, lines and forms within the models fabric and the idea of paintings them whole, however i do feel it may be better to paint close ups of sections rather than the whole model. therefore over the next couple of weeks i may look at close ups of areas.

Week Four of my project

Over the weekend and the week i went out on many locations taking photographs of possible sites for photo shoots or even places i could superimpose models. For some of the locations i just used a normal digital camera and placed the shutter speed and settings onto auto as i found this to effect the outcome in a way which would be easy to mess around with on photoshop.
I went to locations such as Macclesfield forrest, Alderly edge, Teggs Nose and West park.
Next week i will be planning in my sketchbook which locations would be most suitable for photo shoots and superimposing models.

Week Three of my project

Over the weekend i went out on location shoots, with two models and took a range of photographs. I travelled to Alderly Edge and Teggs Nose, both located around Macclesfield. Whilst walking around Alderly Edge and Teggs Nose i spotted some locations for some photographs and possibly some paintings, therefore i took Photographs and carried out some sketches.
The above Photograph was taken at Alderly Edge, using a LSR Digital Camara. However I wanted the photograph to have a old, aged burnt edge effect, creating an atmospheric and dramatic sense to the photograph, also i wanted to make the model stand out more.

I beleive this image to be very pleasing to the eye because it has perfect rule of thirds, as the horizon is third was up the image, and the focal point of the image is located to the left of the middle. To create this i layered an image of aged paper underneath the original image and changed the layer settings to multiple as this shows the image below. Once this was complete i changed the levels to make the image more dramatic.

Next i will be carrying out some more work on the other photographs, and carring out some more photoshoots on location and in the studio.

Week Two of my project

On Friday the 16Th of April, I took two models into the studio and took some test shots of them wrapped up in cotton fabric, however when i looked more closely at the photographs on the apple mac screen, i soon came to realise that they are showing what i wanted the viewer to see.
I wanted the viewer to be able to see the features of the model, but without giving away who it is.

To enhance the features i decided to use Photo shop, changing the mode to "grey scale" and playing around with the "level". In addition due to the backdrop being dirty i had to use the heal tool to get rid of he dirty marks.

However i will be doing another photo shoot, as i need to use many different models to gain a variety of shapes and sizes. In addition i will be going out on locations and taking photographs and maybe take a couple of models up to the locations as well.

Week one of my project

This week i have produced a sculture based on the work by Christo Jaracheff of a wrapped bottle, using a cotton fabric and string. However due to the fabric being blue i painted it using acrylic paint to make the fabric harder and to retain the shape. However this is very much copying the "wrapped bottle" 1958, by Chirsto Jaracheff. Thus next week i will try different materials such as newspaper, tin foil and different fabrics such as canvas, cotton and silk. In the mean time i will be wrapping people up in cotton and taking photographs of them in the studio.
